In this video Stuart explains the three main commission structure of various affiliate products. They are:
- OT – One time – most affiliate products only pay once. Physical products are an example
- S – Subscription products such as membership products and software items can pay you recurring commissions as an affiliate so they’re a good idea to help you build consistency with your affiliate business
- HT – High ticket items pay the most in one go. These are larger valued products often paying out commissions over $500 per sale
As a beginner in affiliate marketing I chose products from sites I knew about. Amazon, for example, was one of the first affiliate programs I joined. Since Amazon is a trusted website by many, it’s a good place to sell. However, what I didn’t know back then was that Amazon’s commission structure for affiliates is one of the lowest. Amazon typically pays between 1% and 10% commission on their products. That’s incredibly low when you consider that you can earn 30% to 40% for promoting digital products with the same amount of work.

Because I changed from selling low value physical products to high ticket digital products, things changed quite quickly.
