Hi my name’s Tim Halloran and I’m an affiliate marketing coach. Here’s a bit about my journey as an affiliate marketer and the path which led me to becoming an affiliate coach.

It was back in the early 2000’s when I first learned about affiliate marketing.
I was struggling to make ends meet working as a stuntman in the UK! So I looked for another way to earn using the internet. At first I started out with eBay and bought and sold on the auction site. But I knew there had to be a better way to earn through using more automation.
After creating my own ebook about how to be a stuntman, I joined an online course with the intention of learning how to get more traffic for my ebook. But instead I stumbled on the affiliate marketing business model. I realised that I could earn more from selling someone else’s product than I could from the sale of my own ebook! So I abandoned the ebook completely and started to learn about affiliate marketing.
Affiliate Marketing Coach – What I Learned
I learned a lot initially including how to get traffic to a website through both paid and unpaid strategies. I built websites and created content and I started selling a product I had bought. It was one of the first courses where I had learned about affiliate marketing.
Just as things seemed to be working, I got my advertising account with Google Adwords shut down. Back then you couldn’t get it back if you had a suspended account and try as I might I couldn’t get Google to reinstate my account.
So I switched to organic marketing and started creating niche websites to get free traffic to my affiliate offers. Despite a lot of work and having built many websites, this definitely was a flawed strategy. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a specialist skill/interest to build a website around.
Stunt work would take me away from the affiliate marketing so I worked on an off sporadically over several years. Mostly I struggled but I had an occasional affiliate “win” which kept me going.
Affiliate Marketing Coach – Hope
In 2014 I found an online community where I could get more personal help and support. You can learn more about it in the free video series here. Although I had worked as an affiliate (on and off) for some time, I hadn’t had the kind of success which would allow me to stop working a job.
I enjoyed working as a stuntman but the work was too sporadic to call it a living. So I had to work a number of jobs in between the stunt work. I worked in offices, on building sites and did various driving jobs including chauffeur driving for actors, HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) and taxi driving among other jobs I could find.
By the time I was in my late 30’s I had grown tired of this pattern. I was always broke and stressed. But the affiliate business started taking off and I knew it was the answer I needed – learn more in the free videos.
Overcoming Inner Barriers
I didn’t think of becoming a coach until I had been an affiliate for many years. I didn’t think I had anything to offer. But then it occurred to me how far I’d actually come. Despite all the set backs I had received in affiliate marketing I realised that this placed me in a unique position to help others who might be experiencing the same kind of problems I had encountered.
For me, it wasn’t until I had experienced many set backs and problems that I started seeing a consistent success with affiliate marketing. Part of that success came from persistence but it was also a choice I made never to quit. I simply became determined to succeed with it despite my limiting beliefs, fears and scepticism of which I had plenty!
The “Inner” Game Of An Entrepreneur
I would definitely say your inner game is just as important as the outer steps you take. Unless you get your mindset right, you’ll sabotage even the best business model and the easiest, simplest path! Fear will hold you from taking the right actions and you’ll justify it to yourself (in terms of your limitations). This is why some 95% of affiliates quit. “It’s a scam”, “I can’t afford it”, “only rich people succeed”, “I’m just…” and so on. These are the excuses which will come up when you decide to quit! When you refuse to quit, you have to overcome these internal barriers to your success and meet your fears head on!
Taking those actions you are scared of is likely the most important thing you can do!
If you can relate to any of this and would like some help and support then book a coaching session with me. I found coaching to be what I needed. A coach can help you see your limiting and conflicting ideas which might be holding you back without your awareness. A coach can help hold you to account and give you the tools and strategies you need to become successful more quickly and with less struggle.
